Basketball players from Dutchtown and St. Amant high schools put aside their cross-parish rivalry for a few minutes last week to honor a former Griffin girls basketball manger who died Dec. 11 in a car crash.

The “Geaux Pink for Claire” campaign on Jan. 15 honored Claire Carline, who briefly served as the Griffins’ manager.

Players and coaches from both teams wore pink T-shirts with the “Geaux Pink for Claire” logo.

During a halftime ceremony, Claire’s sisters, Camille and Colleen, who also were in the car on their way to school and sustained injuries in the crash, and family members received a card and proceeds from a raffle. Balloons, flowers and stuffed animals also were presented to the family.

The Griffins won 47-45.
