Rotary District 6200 Gov. Ezora Proctor praised Gonzales Rotarians during a recent visit.

Proctor attended the Aug. 12 meeting of the Rotary Club of Gonzales.

“You are the club that gave start to the two others on the east side of Ascension Parish,” she said. “This gives you a special responsibility as a model for the other clubs.”

Proctor noted the club’s many community service projects, including its Gonzales Rotary Food Fest, Trick or Treat for Canned Goods, Stake in Education to raise money to support the Ascension Fund, High Heels for High Hopes event for the March of Dimes and support of seniors through the club’s annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party and Dinner.

The club held its annual coaches preview Aug. 20 at Carlico Cafe. Each coach gave his perspective on his team and its prospects for the coming season as well as some thoughts about the competition.
