Rock’n the Bayou

Rock out with the second annual Rock’n the Bayou at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The lineup includes Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Artimus Pyle with the Artimus Pyle Band, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Foreigner founding member Lou Gramm and headlining act Starship with Mickey Thomas.

Legendary pro wrestler Ric Flair, known as the "Nature Boy," will be taking photos with fans and signing autographs.

Kanji Klub

Ascension Parish Library’s Kanji Klub for ages 18 and older gathers at 6 p.m. Monday at the Gonzales Branch.

Members will watch “Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror Shamballa” and braid kumihimo bracelets. Kumihimo, a popular craft, means “gathering of threads” in Japanese.

Undercover agent

Baton Rouge native Charlie Spillers visits the Gonzales Branch of Ascension Parish Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for a tell-all of his 10 years as an undercover agent.

He worked for the Baton Rouge Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, dealing with a range of criminals before becoming a federal prosecutor and justice attaché for Iraq. He also worked as an attorney-adviser to the Iraqi High Tribunal.

After the presentation, he will sell and sign copies of his book, “Confessions of an Undercover Agent: Adventures, Close Calls, and the Toll of a Double Life.”

Small business seminar

Ascension Parish Library is offering a free small business seminar at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gonzales Branch.

Learn how to determine the feasibility of a business and how to obtain a small business loan. The presenter will be a senior business consultant with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University.
