Children can spend Saturday morning fishing thanks to a program hosted by the Ascension Fair Association.
Boys and girls 6 and older are invited to take part in the association’s annual Let’s Go Fishing program from 7:45 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center pond.
A light lunch will be provided, and parents are asked to bring water, snacks, rods, reels and bait.

Season ticket renewal
It’s time for Dutchtown High School football season ticket holders to renew their seats.
Tickets can be renewed during Prep Week activities from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday through July 31 in the school office.
Any tickets not renewed by July 31 will be made available to residents on a waiting list, a news release said.
Libraries celebrate summer
Celebrate the end of summer at the Ascension Parish Library’s Doc McStuffins Party.
“Doc McStuffins” is an animated children’s television series produced by Brown Bag Films. The series is about a 6-year-old girl who can fix toys with help from her stuffed-animal friends.
The end-of-summer party is open to all ages and will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the library’s Donaldsonville branch, 6 p.m. Tuesday in Gonzales, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dutchtown and at 6 p.m. July 31 at the Galvez branch.
Also, it’s not too late to sign up for the Fizz, Boom, Read summer reading program.
Children from birth through eighth grade are eligible to join.

Open Mic Night for teens
Talented teens are invited to sing, play an instrument or perform 10 minutes of material at the Ascension Parish Library’s Open Mic Night, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dutchtown branch.
The public is invited to listen to the performances.
