A Stewards of Children training to prevent child abuse is being held at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funding for the program was provided by the Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund, a news release said.

The program cost is $10 for the participant workbook and materials. Certificates of completion will be provided at the end of each session and will include two hours of continuing education credits for social work, counseling and nursing.

Stewards of Children is an evidenced-based training to prevent child sexual abuse in the United States. The Stewards of Children program will increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors, the news release said. The courses are set for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on April 29 at the hospital.

The deadline to register is April 20.
