St. Amant cheerleaders raise money for charities _lowres

The Lake Elementary School cheerleaders were busy in 2015, cheering and raising money for nonprofit groups.

They raised $3,517 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and cheered on participants at the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer.

During the school year, they sold T-shirts to raise $1,347 for Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The cheerleaders performed in the LSU v. Eastern Michigan half-time show Oct. 3.

Lake cheerleaders competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Louisiana Regional Competition in Hammond. The girls placed second in the Junior High Non-Tumbling Division and third in the Junior High Game Day Division. This was the first Lake cheer team to compete in that event.

The squad is sponsored and coached by Britne’ Edmonston and Ellen Braud.
