The Baton Rouge women’s tennis team, representing the U.S. Tennis Association’s Southern Section, won the national title at the USTA League Adult 18 & Over 2.5 National Championships held Oct. 2-4 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California.
Baton Rouge defeated a team from Tualatin, Oregon, 2-1 in the title match.
Team members are captain Melissa Johnson, Rita Little, Lora McNutt, Jessica Nicole Dinh, co-captain Ellen Martinez, Lisa Marie Raiford, Melissa Coles Thompson, Cindy Kelley and Laura Wilson. They play at BREC Highland Road Park Tennis Center.
Raiford is a resident of Prairieville.
