More than 800 musicians from five area high school bands took the field Saturday at Dutchtown High School for the first Duckroost Bandboree sponsored by the St. Amant High School Band.
Catholic, East Ascension, Denham Springs, Dutchtown and St. Amant high schools each presented halftime shows and gathered for a joint performance.
The event was scheduled for The Pit in St. Amant but was moved to Dutchtown High.
The bands performed their shows for judges, family and friends.
The seniors from each band performed “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and all the musicians gathered to play “Amazing Grace.”
The goal of the Bandboree was to provide directors, staff and students with an early season performance, free from ratings and scores, while gaining valuable feedback from top-notch clinicians and adjudicators, organizers said.
St. Amant hopes to hold the event again.
