Members of the Gonzales Police Department participates every year, along with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, LSU Police, the West Baton Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Denham Springs Police Department and the Livingston Sheriff’s Office, Gonzales public information officer Charlotte Guedry said in a news release.

The law agencies raise money for the event throughout the year with raffles, donations, a civilian motorcycle competition and a police motorcycle competition.

“Firstly, I am grateful to my city of Gonzales Police Chief Sherman Jackson for letting me be a part of this wonderful organization,” Dunaway said. “I love representing Gonzales and using my position as a motorman to put a smile on a child’s face. These children love the motorcycles, and all of them tell me they would love to be police officer when they grow up. This donation of my time never fails to make me remember why I do what I do.”
