Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed May 11-17 as National Women’s Health Week in Ascension Parish.

Martinez made the proclamation during the Parish Council meeting on April 23.

Through a partnership with St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and a coalition of public and private organizations, National Women’s Health Week was initiated to raise awareness of women’s health issues. It is observed each spring.

With the proclamation, Martinez said, women of Ascension Parish are urged to make their health a top priority through education and by scheduling recommended screenings with their physicians.
