Girl Scout Camp Whispering Pines in Independence will offer an Outdoor Classroom this fall for families who homeschool their children.

The Outdoor Classrooms, available to girls and boys in grades one through eight, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 3, Nov. 15 and Dec. 5. Cost is $5 per child, per class, a news release said. Children should bring a lunch and water bottle and wear close-toed shoes.

The experience includes science lessons and camp activities. Mornings include an environmental science rotation, where students will play games and solve problems through hands-on activities, while afternoons consist of one traditional camp activity, such as canoeing, kayaking, rock wall climbing, paddle boarding, archery, hiking, high ropes or swimming.

Girl Scout troop membership is not required, though girls can join as individually registered Girl Scouts. Membership is $15 annually.
