The St. Amant High Gators cross country team is midway through the season and already has broken three school records, a news release said.

On Sept. 19, St. Amant ran the LSU Invitational 5K High School race at Highland Road Park. Several athletes set personal records for the race. Four Gators broke the school record for the boys 5K race — Matthew Rosendale, 20 minutes, 37.59 seconds; Theo Swindell, 20:33.92; Nathan Carmouche, 19:59.76; and new record holder Eber Rivas, 19:52.49.

St. Amant participated in the fourth annual Battlefield Run at Port Hudson Battlefield in Jackson on Sept. 26. Runners setting personal records were Brendan Outlaw, 13:50.1 for 2 miles; Connor Smith, 16:53.4 for 2 miles; and Jermaine West, 21:26.6 for 3 miles. Austin Parent, with 20:36.0, and Beaux Roy, with 21:15.2, ran season-best times.

The St. Joseph Invitational at Highland Road Park on Oct. 3 kicked off the second half of the Gators’ season. In the junior high race, Kohl Poche (12:57.4) and Brendan Outlaw (12:36.0) both ran personal records for the 2-mile race, beating the school record. Outlaw set the new record. Connor Smith also set a personal record with a time of 16:14.3.

In the girls varsity 3-mile race, Lloren Lawrence led the Lady Gators to the finish line with a new personal best of 22:37.5, moving her into the fifth spot of the STA XC Elite Club.

All seven runners in the boys varsity 3-mile race either set a personal record or had a season-best time. The top five runners had an average of 19:10.6, breaking the school record for the best cross-country team average set in 2008. Eber Rivas led with a personal record time of 18:11.3 and Austin Parent with a personal record of 18:35.8.

Other Gator runners with record times were Theo Swindell, 19:36.6, personal record; Matthew Rosendale, 19:54.2, season best; Trevor Serpas, 19:57.9, season best; Garrett Parks, 22:40.5, personal record; Matthew Savoy, 22:59.2, personal record; Alyssa Swindell, 24:23.0, personal record; Katelyn Buhler, 27:29.9, season best; Jillian Parks, 28:49, season best; and Jermaine West, 20:19, personal record.

Rounding out the 2015-16 Gators roster are freshmen Alex Torres, Adelaide Gaffney, Ryanne Aucoin, Sierra King and Adren Broussard; sophomores Logan Byars, Jordan Schmidt and Brennan Harris; juniors Valentina Nunez and Cristina Colon; and seniors Jera’nae Donald, Tytaya Guzman, Vertrell Harris and Blake LaBauve.
