Viewers to the upcoming “Louisiana News Magazine” television show will get a glimpse of Donaldsonville’s Historic District and tourist attractions.

Ascension Parish Tourism Commission Director Tracy Browning said the show, shot in partnership with Hometown Productions, will air on the Louisiana Main Street Road Show from May 5-9 during National Tourism Awareness Week.

The show will air at 5 p.m. on Eatel Channel 4 or at 6:30 p.m. on WBTR-TV on Cox cable channel 19. The show also will air at 6:30 each night on Eatel channel 144.

It also will air statewide on 28 channels with 4.3 million potential viewers across 37 parishes, she said.

“Since the focus of this show is on historic main streets across Louisiana, we thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase ... Donaldsonville’s history, different shops, restaurants and attractions connected with the main street,” Browning said.

Donaldsonville was established in the early 1800s and is known today as the “Gateway to Cajun and Plantation Country” because of its rich heritage and the numerous plantations along the Mississippi River and Bayou Lafourche, she said.

The show will highlight the city’s historic district, restaurants, shops and attractions.
