The Ascension Parish school system’s career training program with the Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. recently was featured in a national video produced by the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a news release said.

Ascension was one of three school districts across the country chosen for the national Course Access video campaign, which promotes innovative educational opportunities that supplement traditional classroom learning, the release said.

Superintendent Patrice Pujol debuted the video locally at the Ascension Chamber of Commerce’s November meeting.

High schoolers in Ascension Parish can choose from 20 different industry-based certifications in areas such as welding, pipefitting, drafting, compTIA A+, Microsoft Office specialist, emergency medical responder and certified nursing assistant.
