Members of the East Ascension Rotary Club recently presented a $2,000 donation to the St. Theresa Community Services program.

Rotarians received the money from the Rotary Foundation to assist St. Theresa Community Services in providing money for utility assistance, gas and hotel vouchers.

Rotarians also helped support the program though its Trick or Treat for Canned Goods program, which collects nonperishable food and donations in Ascension neighborhoods during the Halloween season.

Last year, Rotarians visited Oak Alley Estates and Lakes of Ascension Crossing and were overwhelmed with support from the community, Rotary President Bridget Hanna said.

“We hand out an average of 200-plus grocery bags each month filled with nonperishable food items and toiletries,” said Anna Sparacino, director of STCS. “A donation such as this will allow us to offer even more support to our community.”

Hanna and Rotarian Amy Colby recently presented Sparacino with the grant donation.
