Teachers are invited to apply for two grant opportunities offered by Eatel Corp.

Eatel’s Reach a Kid, Teach a Kid grant program has provided more than $65,000 in grants to Ascension Parish teachers since the program’s inception 12 years ago, a news release said.

The grants fund a variety of programs that will use everything from artwork to interactive robotics as teaching tools in community schools, the release said.

Eatel will award 10 $500 grants to private and public school teachers in Ascension Parish. Applications for the Reach a Kid, Teach a Kid grants are due by 5 p.m. Friday and will only be accepted online. For information and to apply, visit www.eatel.com/reachakid.

Eatel’s Imagination Press Book grants have provided children a chance to become published authors for 12 years.

Eatel and Internet-based photo book publisher Picaboo transform the classes’ work into hardbound books. Students will receive a copy of the book to share with family and friends and to keep as a memento from the school year. A copy of the finished book will be added to each class’ school library. Ten classes will be selected to create their own books.

Those who teach more than one section can apply for multiple grants. Applications for the Imagination Press Book grants are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 25, and will only be accepted online. For information and to apply, visit www.eatel.com/imagination.
