Five Gonzales Middle School students have been nominated to compete in the Region 7 Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair at LSU in February, school officials said.

The students were nominated for the regional fair after competing Dec. 18 at the school’s science fair hosted by the Science Club.

Kambron Whitaker’s “What’s Popping” entry won first place in the school fair.

Julissa Hatem won second place and Alton Dupre was third. Honorable mention went to Kittayan Walker and Lani Shaffett.
