A pediatrician, the head of a state agency, a car salesman, a city councilman, a famed jambalaya cooking champion and a high school associate principal are among the 10 dancers set to take the stage July 11 for the seventh annual Dancing for a Cause fundraiser.

“Painting the Town Red” is the theme for the Community Opportunities — The Arc of East Ascension annual dance show set for 7 p.m. at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

The Arc is a nonprofit working to enhance the quality of life for residents with disabilities and their families through services and advocacy that support choice, independence and dignity, event organizer and Arc staffer LaDonna Sanders said.

In addition to the locals taking the stage with their dance coaches, residents receiving services from the agency will show off their dance moves in a part of the show that usually ends in a standing ovation and rousing applause.
