Ryan Hoffman walked across the stage Wednesday as Dutchtown High School’s valedictorian. Harry Riel was the salutatorian.
Hoffman, the son of David and Kristi Hoffman, of Prairieville, maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 4.767.
While attending Dutchtown High, Hoffman received the Student of the Year Award for 2014-15. He also received the John Philip Sousa Band Award and was named an Eatel Top Scholar.
Not only did Hoffman participate in band, but he also participated in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Allied Health, Louisiana Boys State, BASF Science Academy, AHEC of a Summer and St. John’s Youth Group.
His leadership accomplishments include section leader, band manager, band president and drum major. He was named a Gallant Griffin six times and an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors; he earned letterman awards and placed first in District Rally in Biology I and Biology II.
After graduation, he plans to attend the LSU Honors College, where he will major in biological science. His intentions are to attend medical school.
Riel, the son of Francisco and Jill Riel and Kathleen and Shaun Foy, of Geismar, maintained a grade-point average of 4.744. While attending Dutchtown High, he was a Student of the Year nominee and received an AP Scholar with Distinction Award.
He took on leadership roles in Beta Club as club secretary, as captain of the Quiz Bowl and served as secretary of National Honor Society. He was a member of Mu Alpha Theta. He took first place at District Rally for English II.
He earned a LSU Flagship Scholars Award and plans to attend LSU to study computer science.
