St. Amant High’s cross-country team competed in the Episcopal Round Table Run on Sept. 12 at Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge.
Running for the girls team were senior Lloren Lawrence; juniors Cristina Colon, Jillian Parks, Valentina Nunez and Katelyn Buhler; sophomore Alyssa Swindell; and freshman Addie Gaffney.
Lawrence led the Lady Gators with a time of 24:12, and Gaffney, in her first meet of the season, followed with a time of 24:30. Setting a personal record for the second week was Swindell with a time of 25:41.
The boys team was led to the finish line by senior Theo Swindell with a time of 19:42. Following him was senior Nathan Carmouche with a time of 19:50. Crossing the finish line within seconds of each other were senior Eber Rivas, juniors Matthew Rosendale and Austin Parent and senior Trevor Serpas. Closing out the varsity run for the boys team were sophomores Garrett Parks and Matthew Savoy, who both set personal records for the second week in a row with times of 22:56 and 24:21, respectively.
Four freshmen runners — Adren Broussard, Kohl Poche, Alex Torres and Connor Smith — competed in the junior high race. Broussard came in 74th of over 300 runners with a time of 13:25, just a few seconds above the school record for a 2-mile run. Torres, who ran a 2-mile race last week, shaved nearly four minutes off his time this week with a time of 17:37.
The Gators will compete Saturday at the LSU High School Invitational 5K Meet at Highland Road Park.
