Families can pick up information on Medicaid services and program available for at-risk youths Saturday at the Ascension Summer Kick Off party in Carver Park in Gonzales.
Suzanne Hamilton, executive director of the Ascension Counseling Center, said the event is hosted by the National Child and Family Services in Baton Rouge on behalf of Medicaid.
Families can learn about a program for children who are at risk for out-of-home placement due to juvenile issues, mental health hospitalization and other issues. Under the program, Hamilton said, a child and his or her family can receive free counseling.
Local firefighters will be on hand for demonstrations, food will be served and children can play games.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
