The Ascension Parish School Board, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Gonzales Police Department will conduct simulated emergency exercises in the schools at various times during the school year, beginning the week of Sept. 1, School Board officials announced.

The exercises, which will practice lock-down drills, will not involve actors or props, according to a news release from the School Board.

The drills will be monitored by school officials, law enforcement partners and emergency personnel.

Additional communication also will be sent to parents, guardians and the community, when the simulated lock-down exercises are taking place, the release said.
