The annual Relay for Life of Ascension Parish kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday at Cabela’s in Gonzales.
More than 35 teams will raise money for the American Cancer Society’s efforts to end cancer.
Food, games and other activities will end at midnight.
Cancer survivors are invited to take part in opening ceremonies.
Expired meds collection
Ascension Parish residents can dispose of unused or expired medications from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Donaldsonville City Hall, 609 Railroad Ave., and the Gonzales Courthouse annex, 828 C. Irma Blvd.

Super School Contest
The Play Ascension Super School Contest is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center’s 4-H Building in Gonzales.
All children must be accompanied by an adult, and siblings are welcome.
Show up to help area schools compete for cash prizes to support sports programs.
Activities include baseball, football, soccer, basketball, karate and gymnastics exhibitions, fitness instruction, mini-marathon and nutrition information.
Admission is free and food and drinks will be available.
The event is sponsored by Leadership Ascension.
Gluten sensitivity talk
Dr. Elizabeth Bollinger and Karla Millet, of St. Elizabeth Physician Group, will give a presentation on gluten sensitivity and intolerance at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at LeBlanc’s Frais Marche in Gonzales. Attendees will learn to cook a gluten-free dish.

Save the date for lunch
St. Elizabeth Hospital’s Women’s Health Lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m. May 11. This year’s topic is “Awareness and Advocacy for Eliminating Healthcare Disparities in Women.”
The keynote speaker is Dr. Carla Harwell, associate professor in medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dutchtown Dance Team
Dutchtown High School will hold its 2016 Griffin Girl Dance Team Mini-Camp for ages 3 and older from 9 a.m. to noon June 6-10 in the school gym.
The camp will wrap up with a show-off performance at 6 p.m. June 10.
Registration is $55 and includes a daily snack, a camp T-shirt, dancer’s picture and a decorated frame. Walk-ins will be accepted on the first day of camp.
Completed forms with checks payable to Dutchtown High School should be mailed to Mini-Camp, 41193 New Orleans Drive, Sorrento, 70778 by June 4.
