Donaldsonville woman crowned Miss LSU USA _lowres

Donaldsonville resident Ashley Barbier was crowned Miss LSU USA March 22 during a pageant at the LSU Union Theatre in Baton Rouge.

Barbier was one of 22 girls competing for the title. The pageant included an opening number, swimsuit competition and evening gown competition. A top five was chosen, and each finalist answered a question onstage.

Barbier, 22, will represent her university for the next year and represent LSU at the Miss Louisiana USA Pageant in October in Lafayette.

Barbier is a 2011 graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and a senior at LSU majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Donna Latino Barbier and Brent Barbier, and the granddaughter of Richard “Dickie” and Derley Barbier, of Bayou Pigeon, and Joseph A. Latino Sr. and the late Mary Alice Jennings Latino.
