The Ascension Chamber hosted its annual Golf Ascension Tournament on Oct. 20 at Pelican Point Golf Club.

Proceeds from event will fund Leadership Ascension, a program “sponsored by The Ascension Chamber of Commerce to assist in preparing emerging community leaders for leadership positions in local government, business and community affairs,” the Chamber website says. “The results-oriented program is directed by a steering committee of community leaders with the assistance of the Chamber staff.”

Several area businesses sponsored the event, Chamber officials said in a news release.

Cornel Smith, Marcus Johnson, Curtis Domingue and Darin Johnson, all of Impala, received the first-place gross prize.

Earning the first-place net prize was John Corban III, Mark Perryman, Kurt LaCroix and Jimmy Haney, all of Cox.

The team sponsored by Hughes Insurance — Bret Hughes, Brad Hughes, Marty Bourgeois and Clay Stafford — received second-place net prize, and the third-place net prize went to Jacob Waguespack, Matt Percy, Conrad Fountain and Ozzie Fernandez.
