The 23rd Judicial District Bar Association is accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.
This year, the association will award four $1,000 scholarships. High school seniors from Ascension, Assumption and St. James parishes are eligible to apply, said Erin W. Lanoux, vice president of public relations for the association.
Winners will be based on the criteria of academic achievement, community service and financial need, she said. Since 2006, the Bar Association has provided annual scholarships to qualified applicants graduating from high schools located in the three parishes.
The funds for the scholarships come from donations from attorneys and judges who are members of the Bar Association.
“The members of our Bar Association understand the importance and expense of a college education,” association President Shawn Bush said. “We are committed to those students that have demonstrated a desire through their academic achievements and volunteer efforts to maintain a commitment to further their education and give back to their community.”
Interested seniors can contact their high school counselors for an application or send a request to email@example.com.
The deadline for submission is April 2.
