The new St. Amant Wrestling Club for youth began this year under the leadership of Brian Hess and assistant coaches Clint Brownell, Jordan Averett and Brier Babin of the St. Amant High School wrestling team.

Last weekend, the club entered its third tournament of the season and made an impressive showing, with 13 wrestlers winning medals, a news release said.

In the novice division, Jeremy Paulus won third in the 85-pound weight class.

In the schoolboy division, Jace Chenevert was third in the 77-pound class; Corey Brownell, second, 91-pound; Jaden Snyder, third, 120-pound; Brayden Lambert, second, 136-pound; and Jacob Stewart, second, 144-pound.

Placing in the cadet division, which features high school students, were Tyree Morris, second, 113-pound; Seth Signorelli, first, 132-pound; Joseph Cagayao, third, 132-pound; Nakie Brown, first, 145-pound; Jestin Dunn, first, 152-pound; Garrett Parks, third, 152-pound; and Hunter Hawkins, first, 160.
