Women’s Health Week set in May _lowres

Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez proclaimed May 10-16 as National Women’s Health Week in Ascension Parish.

The proclamation came during the April 16 Parish Council meeting in Gonzales.

Ranee Rogers, along with other members of the Women’s Advisory Council of St. Elizabeth Hospital, accepted the proclamation from Martinez.

Women’s Advisory Council member Amy Colby said the group will host a women’s luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 6 at Elegant Affairs, 14210 Airline Highway, Gonzales.

Colby said Anne Troy, a pediatric and forensic nurse at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, will give a presentation at noon. Troy interviews children and victims of sexual abuse.

Through a partnership with St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and a coalition of public and private organizations, National Women’s Health Week was initiated to raise awareness of women’s health issues.
