East Ascension High School held its “patriotic game” Friday against Thibodaux High in Spartan Stadium.
The program was held to honor those who “in our community who represent the organizations that since this attack (the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001) have fought to protect our American way of life,” a news release said. “We invited military, police and fire department personnel in Ascension Parish to join us for our first home football game of the season.”
Military, police and fire personnel were honored during a brief ceremony.
Students waved American flags.
The Prairieville Fire Department exhibited its monument to 9/11, which was made from the center beam of the World Trade Center.
