A Texas-based baseball team is holding tryouts Saturday in Gonzales for its new Louisiana developmental and national teams.
Team Citius, started by former Red Sox player Omar Washington, plans tryouts for teams to play in Perfect Game and national-level showcases and tournaments. Top players are expected to play in Perfect Game tournaments in Georgia and Florida, a news release said.
The teams will practice one to two days a week and play in tournaments in the fall and summer, the release said.
Interested players ages 13 and 14 can try out starting at 9 a.m., and tryouts for ages 15 to 18 start at 1 p.m. at Ascension Christian School, 14408 E.A. Academy Road, Gonzales.
Tryouts will be moved to Ascension Tiger Cages, 17839 Airline Highway Suites A and B, Prairieville, in case of inclement weather.
