Country music stars, rides, vendors, a car show and more will be featured at the 2016 Cajun Country Jam on Friday and Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
Performers include Clay Walker, Joe Diffie, Lorrie Morgan, Jamie O’Neal and Andy Griggs, Chad Brock, Louisiana’s LeRoux, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., The Gillis Silo and Clifton Brown and the Rusty Bucket Band.
The casts of TV’s “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Swamp People” will be reunited and selling photo opportunities and autographs.

Independence Day recycling
Republic Services will stick to its regular recycling pickup schedule in Ascension Parish on Monday, Independence Day.
Residents should put their trash out Sunday night because collection may be earlier than usual.

All Ascension Parish governmental offices will be closed Monday for Independence Day. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday.

Get ready to yell “Bingo!” on Tuesday when the game gets underway at the Donaldsonville and Dutchtown branches of Ascension Parish Library.
Prekindergartners through first-graders will play picture bingo at 9:30 a.m., and second- through fifth-graders will play traditional bingo at 11:30 a.m.
Everyone is guaranteed to win at least one prize.

The classic board game Battleship comes to life for teens at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Gonzales Branch of Ascension Parish Library. Be prepared to throw things.
Teens will learn to make their own stab-bound mini notebook at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Gonzales Branch of Ascension Parish Library.

Christmas in July
Celebrate Christmas in July at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Dutchtown Branch of Ascension Parish Library, where teens will create wintry works of art, enjoy hot chocolate and listen to holiday music.
Fox & Branch
Folk music duo Fox & Branch will perform for children at 10:30 a.m. July 7 at the Donaldsonville Branch of Ascension Parish Library.
