A workshop helping African-Americans reconnect with their Civil War-era ancestors will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the River Road African American Museum, 406 Charles St., Donaldsonville.

Those attending the workshop will learn to find records from the Freedmen’s Bureau searchable online database.

The bureau was established after the Civil War to help former slaves transition to citizenship by providing food, clothing, housing, education and medical care.

There is no charge to attend. Participants need to bring their own laptop. Space is limited and registration is required; call (225) 474-5553.
