Students at Oak Grove Primary learned information about gun safety earlier this month.

The Baton Rouge Constable’s Office, in collaboration with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, taught youths about gun safety. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of accidental firearm injuries and deaths.

Holly Sheets, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and Sgt. Brian Firmin spent two days presenting information to the students.

Students watched as a watermelon exploded during a demonstration. The visual aid helped to instill the importance of gun safety, school officials said.
