Ascension Parish Girl Scouts Emma Blanchard, Kathryn Bobinchuck, Katie Gillis, Amy Grace Goins, Elyte Hunt, Caitlin Kirby, Emma McCarthy and Whitney Wallace have earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve, a news release said.

The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges appropriate to the Girl Scouts’ level and prepares them for their final take-action project, the release said.

For their project, the members of Prairieville Girl Scout Junior Troop 10816 made dog and cat toys using recycled materials for an animal shelter in Sorrento, along with a hurricane preparedness brochure on how to put together a pet survival kit. The project adviser was Susan Gillis.
