Earlier this school year, business English students at St. Amant High School decided to use their classroom skills to help wounded and area veterans.
They received a dose of inspiration for their project earlier this month when Mike McNaughton, who lost his leg in 2003 in Afghanistan, visited the students, teacher Melissa McCormick said.
McNaughton talked with the students about being an amputee and what he does to help other veterans.
The students are using their classroom skills to organize a fundraiser to help wounded and area veterans.
The students will host a car show fundraiser and jambalaya cook-off from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
All of the raised money will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and local veterans organizations.
