High school gifted teachers Tara Jones, Mandy Perret and Carla Hebert, of St. Amant and Donaldsonville high schools, were able to purchase a membership for all high school gifted students to Study.com with a grant from the Ascension Fund.

Study.com allows students to take pre-tests that determine individual weaknesses and strengths for ACT, PSAT, SAT and AP test prep, according to a news release. Students then complete lessons specific to their areas of weakness in preparation for standardized tests. Students also are able to access college courses through the website.

ā€œIā€™m currently working on college biology because I plan on majoring in cellular and molecular biology, and I feel like the lessons are really preparing me for my future in medicine,ā€ sophomore Piper Bordes said.

The Ascension Fund, a nonprofit established in 1991 by the Gonzales Rotary Club, allows private sector leaders to invest directly in the work of individual teachers and schools through grants for innovative ideas and programs in Ascension Parish public schools, a news release said.
