The inaugural Ascension Music Jam takes over the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center on Saturday, featuring bands from Ascension Parish.
The concert, hosted by the Ascension Festivals and Cultural Council, is from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. in front of Arena C , Parish President Tommy Martinez said.
Martin McConnell, sales and marketing director for Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, said a dancing area will be in front of the stage, and locations surrounding the concert grounds will be specifically for tents. He said food, drinks and adult beverages will be on sale.
Show band Na Na Sha will headline the event.
Arthur Broussard and the Back Yard Band, a variety music band playing swamp pop and country music, will kick off the event at 2 p.m., followed by the Lil’ Bayou Band at 3:30 p.m.
High energy horn band Hai Karate will take the stage at 5 p.m. followed by Mike Broussard and Night Train at 6:30 p.m., with special guests Van and Grace Broussard.
Na Na Sha will round out the day’s musical line up at 8 p.m.
Pets, ice chests, outside food and beverages are all prohibited, McConnell said.
