“Turn It Up” is the theme for next week’s Dutchtown High School Griffin Girls mini camp.
The dance camp is from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday in the school gym. Registration will be accepted at the door.
The camp costs $50.

Vacation Bible School set
Weird Animals Vacation Bible School is coming to Dutchtown Baptist Church.
The program, set from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 22 to June 27 at the Dutchtown church, is for children 4 to sixth grade.

Sexual trauma class slated
Trinity AME Church, 1420 South Darla Ave., Gonzales, will host the STAR Sexual Trauma 101 Class at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Rebecca Marchiafava, director of prevention, will present the training on risk and prevention factors, warning signs, prevention strategies and policy changes.

Garden workshop offered
The LSU Agricultural Center and Ascension Master Gardeners will host a vegetable garden workshop at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales.
Activities will include discussions on tomato, bell pepper and cucumber varieties planted in the demonstration gardens, insect issues and controls, and disease issues and controls.
The winners of the 2014 4-H Youth and Adult Garden Contest will be announced.

Reunion plans underway
Graduates of East Ascension High School from 1970 to 1975 are invited to a class reunion Aug. 2.
Registration is underway for the multi-class reunion, Theresa Averette.
Cost is $40 a couple or $25 a person.
July 1 is the deadline to register.

Sock hop set June 27
The Ascension Parish Senior Sock Hop scheduled for May 30 was canceled because the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym, the site of the monthly dance, was used as a Red Cross shelter, parish official said.
Parish Director of Recreation Mike Mohler said the next sock hop is scheduled for June 27 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gymnasium.
