Digital safety course set

Eatel Corp. has partnered with two local school systems in its service area and Malco Gonzales Cinema to sponsor two live digital safety seminars that are free and open to the public.

These seminars will be geared toward middle and high school students, parents and teachers. They will demonstrate methods to prevent harmful digital and online behaviors such as sexting, cyberbullying, digital blackmail and exploitation, a news release from Eatel says.

The award-winning seminars will be presented by Richard Guerry, founder of the Institute for Responsible Online and Cell Phone Communication. Guerry is the author of “Public and Permanent: The Golden Rule of the 21st Century” and has been a featured speaker at many national conferences and conventions, the release said.

The Ascension Parish program is at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Malco Gonzales Cinema, 1406 N. Airline Highway, Gonzales.

Registration is not required to attend either seminar, although Eatel encourages those attending to arrive early as seating will be limited.

Library celebrates France

Registration is underway for the Ascension Parish Library’s Fun With French program set for 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Donaldsonville branch.

The program will celebrate all things French, a news release said.

Children will read the book “Everybody Bonjours,” fashion a beret, create a mustache on a stick and craft a French poodle.

Learn a few French words and phrases and have your picture taken next to the Eiffel Tower.

Registration is required and the event is open to children in kindergarten through fourth grade.
