Members of the Southern University Jaguars football team on March 6 visited Central Primary School to pump up the students prior to taking the PARCC test.
Players Greg Pittman, Demetrius Carter and Lenard Tillery and coach Elvis Joseph spoke to third-, fourth- and fifth-graders during the PARCC Pep Rally, a news release from the school said.
At the rally, Assistant Principal Cynthia Jackson, who brought the idea of a PARCC Pep Rally to a monthly planning meeting, introduced the guests as music played.
Several classrooms presented posters and chants to promote preparedness for the test.
Members of the 4-H Club participated in a skit to entertain the students and to get them excited for the test.
Beta Club girl members flipped their way around the stage, showcasing their gymnastic talents, and Beta Club boy members performed a skit showcasing their basketball skills and chanted a song.
The Southern football players threw footballs to students and encouraged the students to get motivated for the test.
