For many years, the Gonzales Police Department has gifted area families and children with food, clothes and toys throughout the holiday season. This year, based upon a request from Officer Robin Brunke, the department gave some assistance to Needy of Greater Baton Rouge.

Needy of Greater Baton Rouge President Tim Arceneaux and his wife, Tracy, have been donating items to needy families during every holiday throughout the year for more than 10 years.

“When Officer Brunke approached me about us being the ones to give back this time, it was a no-brainer,” Gonzales Police Chief Sherman Jackson said. “Tim and Tracy have been so passionate about helping our cause for so many years. Being just as passionate about helping them became equally as important to all of us.”

After approval from Jackson, the department began collecting clothes and shoes and presented them to the couple on Dec. 1. Nearly $1,500 in items were collected for distribution to the needy.

“We are always so privileged to be able to give back to so many local communities,” Tim Arceneaux said. “To have an organization that we have been so happy to help for 10-plus years decide to give back to us is beyond heartfelt.”
