BASF recently awarded $500 scholarships to eight Ascension Parish high school seniors through the company’s local and corporate scholarship programs. The students plan to pursue STEM-related degrees.

Scholarship recipients Jennay Mitchell and Craig Ambeau, of Donaldsonville High School, plan to attend Southern University.

Honorees Emily Patterson, of Dutchtown High School, and Maci McKey and Tyler Broussard, of St. Amant High School, plan to attend LSU.

Scholarship winner Christian Logarbo, of Dutchtown High School, plans to attend Tulane University; Anastasia Britton, of East Ascension High School, plans to attend Louisiana Tech University; and Hunter Ordeneaux, of East Ascension High School, plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

“BASF’s scholarships reward students for outstanding academic performance and encourage them to consider careers in the chemical industry,” said Tom Yura, senior vice president and manager of the BASF site in Geismar. “By investing in students who choose to major in science, technology, engineering and math, we are helping to meet our future workforce needs.”
