PotashCorp, of Geismar, recently donated $28,000 to Volunteer Ascension to support programs focusing on health and wellness initiatives, education and training and community building/arts and culture initiatives, a news release said.

“Our impact within the community, the exact number of people that we can reach, the circumstances and lives we can change, all of this is tied directly to the support that we receive. This is such a blessing,” Volunteer Ascension Executive Director Sherry Denig said.

Volunteer Ascension recruits and trains volunteers to provide a network of assistance to the less fortunate throughout the Ascension Parish community with programs such as Community Services, ConnecTeens, Make A Difference Day, School Tools and School Uniforms.

As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays a role in global food production, the release said.
