After two years in dispatch, Melancon transferred to the patrol division, then to the warrants division. In 2005, Melancon returned to dispatch in a supervisory role. He was recently promoted to captain in the administrative services division with supervisory responsibilities over the communications division and command over the hazard materials unit, a news release from the Sheriff’s Office said.
