Repticon slithers into the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The reptile expo features plenty of exotic animals, vendors and activities.

One-day admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Two-day tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 12.

Children ages 4 and younger get in free.

Cooking for a cause

Jambalaya cooks will prepare the tasty rice concoction Sunday at Tiger Tavern, 14505 La. 44, Gonzales, to raise money for the Combat Wounded Coalition.

This is the third year for the cook-off, which has raised more than $15,00 for the group that provides clothing modifications for soldiers injured in the line of duty.

TEENS: A beach party at 4 p.m. Monday at Donaldsonville features games, summer tunes, a flip-flop craft and a beachy wave hairdo. For teens entering sixth through 12th grades.

Open mic night returns to Dutchtown at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bring 10 minutes of material or two songs to perform before a crowd. For teens entering sixth through 12th grades.

All library locations will host an upcycled tees program at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Bring an old T-shirt and transform it into something new. For teens entering sixth through 12th grades.

Donaldsonville development

Lee E. Melancon III, director of the Donaldsonville Downtown Development District, will talk about improvements the organization has made to the city of Donaldsonville, as well as future plans, at 6 p.m. June 30 at the Donaldsonville Branch of Ascension Parish Library.
