Eighteen St. Amant High School DECA members were winners at the Louisiana DECA Career Development Conference Feb. 22-23 in Baton Rouge.

DECA is a business and marketing club that allows its members to grow in leadership and meet people from all over the country, St. Amant DECA adviser Rae Broussard said.

Throughout all categories, the top five qualifiers from St. Amant included: Clint Boe, T.J. Folks, Ty Carter, Harlie Rodrigue, Samantha Gautreau, Tiffany Barker, Tess Robertson, Trae’ Boudreaux and Paige Wilson, DECA member Julian Guerrero said.

Second-place winners were Hunter Bertrand, Tyler Fontenot, Kaitlyn Biri, Josh Kling and Carter.

Winning third place were James Regina and Scottye Cassard.

St. Amant first-year member Kearra Moton won a first-place award, and Fontenot won the $500 Dennis Volentine Scholarship.

The conference included multiple role-play competitions and written test events.

Bertrand, Fontenot and Biri entered their community service project benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Two St. Amant High students were elected to DECA offices. D.J. Ferguson was elected as vice president, and Victoria Stewart was elected as southern region vice president.
