PRAIRIEVILLE - Four people have been arrested on counts of first-degree murder in the death of a Prairieville man whose body was found in a yard on Brown Road in Ascension Parish on Sunday, Ascension Parish Sheriff's Chief Deputy Bobby Webre said.
Investigators learned that the victim, Brian Long, 48, had been lured on Sunday to the Prairieville residence of Joseph Oncale, 38, and Fallon Gautreau, 28, who planned to rob him, Webre said.
Also there at the home on Stanley Street were Jason Giles, 35, and Mark Forbes, 35, who had a handgun, Webre said in a news release.
The victim fled the home and was chased on foot by the three other men onto Brown Road, where deputies found his body shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.
Allison Hudson, public information officer for the Sheriff's Office, said Monday that the office is awaiting autopsy results but that the victim had been beaten.
The four arrested late Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday were all from Prairieville.
All were booked into the Ascension Parish jail on counts of first-degree murder and attempted robbery, Webre said. Forbes was booked on an additional count of attempted armed robbery with a firearm, Webre said.
