Learning new words paid off for Donaldsonville Primary School students as they competed in the Dec. 16 “High Frequency Word Superhero Challenge.”

Since the beginning of the school year, the students worked at learning sight words, a news release from the school said. Two students from each kindergarten, first- and second-grade class were selected to participate in the word challenge.

The winners of the challenge were the male and female from each grade level that could identify the most sight words.

Kindergarten Superheroes were Aniyah Brown and Malik Franklin and first-grade Superheroes were Aurenisha Preston and Damir Haynes. Second-grade winners were Brailynn Johnson and Makhi Landry.
