Robyn Walensky, author and senior anchor and director of editorial news coverage at The Blaze Radio Network, will take questions on current events and politics at a Baton Rouge area Republican Women event April 13 hosted by Ascension Republican Women.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarion Inn, 1500 W. La. 30, Gonzales.

Cost for the meal is $25. A book signing will follow the presentation.

Pageants seeking entries

Registration is underway for the River Region Royalty V and the Heart Project IV beauty pageant scheduled for April 18 at the Grande Pavilion in Gonzales.

All contestants in the River Region Royalty pageant receive a crown as a keepsake, organizers said. The pageant features nine age divisions ranging from infants to 19.

Proceeds from the Heart Project IV pageant will be donated to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

The entry fee is $65.

Good Friday holiday

Ascension Parish government offices will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday, Parish President Tommy Martinez said.

All offices will resume normal business hours on Monday.

Friendship House art camp

As part of its ongoing mission to provide educational opportunities for students, members of the River Region Art Association are offering art enrichment sessions at Friendship House, a parent-organized nonprofit operating in Ascension.

Friendship House promotes “inclusive opportunities of engagement” for individuals with disabilities, a news release from RRAA said.

Friendship House and The Rock Church will host a day camp offering soccer, kickball and volleyball, along with art enrichment April 7-9 for campers 10 and older.

Some of the members from the River Region Art Association with be partnering to offer the art enrichment sessions.

Representatives from Special Olympics Louisiana will be on hand to update Friendship House on events in the capital area.
