The Ascension 4-H Foundation is selling sweet potatoes and Bergeron peeled pecan halves for its second annual fall fundraiser.
Sweet potatoes are $12 for a 10-pound box or $25 for a 40-pound box; pecans are $25 for a 3-pound box. Orders are due Oct. 20, must be prepaid and can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 6-5 at the 4-H office in Gonzales.

Rockin’ with Eddie Money
A classic rock concert featuring Eddie Money with special guest Andy Childs will benefit the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana’s community and member programs.

Beating insulin resistance
Dr. Sean DeBarros, of St. Elizabeth Physicians, will give a presentation on metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and behavioral and lifestyle changes to help prevent diabetes at 6 p.m. Monday at the Galvez Branch of the Ascension Parish Library.

Coping with joint pain
A special dinner presentation on osteoarthritis, joint pain and new technologies in hip and knee replacements begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Sister Vernola Conference Room at St. Elizabeth Hospital. The presenter is Dr. Matthew Copple, of the Orthopaedic and Sports Clinic.

Let’s wine and dine
The Rotary Club of East Ascension will hold its second annual fall wine tasting from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at Parc 73, 14379 La. 73 in Prairieville. Proceeds benefit the club’s community service and humanitarian outreach programs.
Wines will be provided by Glazer’s Baton Rouge. There will be food, live music and a silent auction. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at the Ascension Chamber of Commerce office.
School fundraiser tickets
It’s not too late to get your tickets for the R. Rayborn Charter School fundraiser, featuring an Irma Thomas concert, at the Clarion Inn on Oct. 15.
A meet and greet with hors d’ouevres and cash bar begins at 6:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Sponsorships, VIP and general admission tickets for advance purchase are available. All tickets will be $100 at the door.
